Image 3: We designed this ceiling over the foyer and music room and painted in trompe l'oeil raised ornament using acrylics. The areas over the chandeliers are gilded in 23k rouge gold leaf. The walls are lightly overglazed. |
Image 4: This is a view from the music room towards the foyer. |

Image 11: Detail of airy garden scene, trellis and flower with trompe l'oeil elements are all painted in acrylics. |

Image 15: This wall mural is painted on a silver background using acrylics. The fireplace is a faux limestone over raised ornament "compo". The base of the fireplace was a black granite. Details of the bas relief follows. |
Image 16: This is a detail shot of the bas relief between the windows. The plaster crown was painted and touched off with gold mica powders. The trompe l'oeil element over the window finishes off the window nicely without window dressings. |
Image 17: This wider view shows some of the oak graining and broken walls. The woodwork needed to be grained as it was too modern looking. I think it makes for a more interesting effect to ignore the corners of a room and let the view move on around the corners. We continued this broken wall onto other walls in the room. |
Image 18: After making and settling on a sketch of ideas from pictures and photographs of towns and castles in the Czech Republic, we painted this mural on a sunroom wall using acrylics. The castle is the owners favorite. |
Image 19: Mural of violinist situated fourteen feet high which is why the details have to be strongly
accentuated for the viewer at floor level. Columns in faux sienna and
capitols in gold mica powders. |
Image 20: We designed and painted in this window and iron grille work over a wall treatment of color washed texture. |
Image 21: Trompe l'oeil window with tuscan scenery painted in acrylics. |
Image 22: This version of the Venetian wall mirror has the niche replacing the mirror. The full view follows. |
Image 23: This is the full view of the Venetian wall mural including some trompe l'oeil moldings added to the stair trim. (We may be adding to this mural in the future).. |
Image 24: The mirror on this trompe l'oeil niche was gilded in aluminum leaf before distressing with silver mica powders. The columns were marbled in Violet Breche. It sits on faux sand stone block which helps the perspective of the mural. |
Image 25: This powder room has a gold mica powder ceiling, a light patina on the walls, aged cabinetry, vanity top marbled in Botticino, and shelves full of trompe l'oeil books chosen by the home owner from the adjacent library. We custom made the frame and finished it in gold mica powders and toned it. The trompe l'oeil shelf painted onto the mirror, breaks up the mirror nicely. |
Image 26: We designed and painted this oriental painting mural to look as if it was hanging in four silk panels from a rod. It is all painted.
Image 27: Close up of silk mural. |
Image 28: This Japanese scene on all four walls was done in acrylics but in a watercolor fashion. A soft and warm background coloring lent to the subtle tones needed for a realistic approach to Japanese painting. A poem was later added in the top left corner. |
Image 29: Detail of right side wall. The door was painted like a wood framed soshi screen along with two small wall leading to the sink. |
Image 30: Detail of left wall. |
Image 31: This view of a Japanese landscape started out as an idea for painting some orchids on the wall and blossomed into this scene. We had fun selecting the orchids and finding arches to emulate for the doorway. |
Image 32: The red coloring on this vase coordinates with the armoire, seen in prior photograph. |
Image 33: This Tuscan scene painted in acrylics fits into this niche over the cabinetry. The perspective took in mind the view as you come down a staircase to make this seem an opening to outside.. |
Image 34: MURAL
I used automotive car paint (MAE) to paint this mural onto the hood insulation. The short pot life and quick drying time of the paint made this a challenging project
. |
Image 35: Cindy and I painted the urns, columns and flowers to decorate this space over the front entry. The lighting and real flowers really completed the decoration. |
Image 36: Urn and column detail images. |
Image 37: Urn and flower detail images. |
Image 38: This Tuscan scenery mural is painted on a high wall over the living room, so the perspective is painted from the best viewing area of the mural.
This mural is painted with acrylics. The walls which it is painted onto are finished with a mottled overglaze. |
Image 39: We created this sign for Lower Merion townships new building. The center area is painted over 23k gold leaf. The precision of this project in the lettering and leaves, made it a challenge. Researching the PA. state shield (which the middle part is) also made the project interesting, seeing the history of the shield. |
Image 40: This was a fun project. We used the family dog in one balloon and some favorite stuffed animals for others. See the close-up for it was hard to get the whole room in any one shot. |
Image 41: Close up of the family dog in the balloon. |
Image 42 The floating bear : his lack of expression as he is being carried away, really cracks me up. |
Image 43: An askance hare. |
Image 44: Yet another view. |
Image 45: Trompe l'oeil painting over faux marble. Details in the Baroque style. |
Image 46: We painted a sea shore theme in this loft. Open to the family room below, the sky adds a subtle outdoors feel even without seeing the beach scenes. |
Image 47: MURAL
This round window converted nicely into the shore theme. I grained the window and wall around it. The light at the right of the window made for an effective partner in making the shadows seem that they are coming from it. The name of the captain and ship are authentic and sentimental of one of the residence, making a nice touch

Image 48: This mural of Ireland's landscape is made to look as if it were
painted on a plaster which is in disrepair. It is positioned high up on a
family room wall. We finished it on St. Patty's Day! |
Image 49: Collaborative work of International Salon of Decorative Painters which met in Philadelphia. This mural was donated to be hung in the children's critical care ward of a local hospital. |
Image 50: Overview of Mural. |
Image 51: This full wall mural is the view you would have from sitting in our dentists chair. We included his family and pets into the mural which made it very special. I hope he gets time to sit and have some cafe au lait soon.. |
