We made the
mirrors forming the backs of these china closets by custom
fitting the new glass after gilding the backs in silver leaf.
The leaf was distressed using chemical patination and
mechanically rubbing, then backed up with asphaltum and paint.
The cabinet finish is a wax resist using four similar colors for
a subtle
and believable antiquing.
